Atlas ("this site", "we") is a free flashcard tool for learning world flags. This page explains what data is collected when you visit, and how it's used.
Atlas does not require an account and does not ask you to submit personal information. It does store some data locally in your own browser to power its practice features — this is explained in the next section.
Atlas remembers which flags you've answered correctly or incorrectly, so it can offer a "weak flags" practice mode and show you a mastery breakdown across visits. This is done using your browser's local storage — a standard feature that lets a website save small pieces of data directly on your device.
This progress data is a simple list of country codes with counts of correct and incorrect answers. It stays on your device, is never transmitted to any server, and is never shared with Google, advertisers, or any other third party. It persists until you clear it yourself, using the "Reset progress" button on the mastery screen, or by clearing your browser's site data for this page. It is also specific to the browser and device you're using — it won't follow you if you switch devices or browsers, or if you clear your cache.
This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance, and — where permitted by your settings and region — to personalise the ads you see based on your visits to this and other sites.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent banner before any personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can choose to consent, decline, or manage your preferences at any time through that banner.

Flag images are loaded from flagcdn.com, a third-party flag image service. Loading these images may share standard technical information with that service, such as your IP address and browser type, in the same way it's shared with any website you visit.
We may use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand overall traffic to the site (for example, how many people visit and roughly where from). This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you individually.
Atlas is a general-audience educational tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
